Film about Shri Mataji and Her method.

Since the beginning of time, human beings have been searching for answers:
Who am I? Why am I here? What is the purpose of existence?

Many great incarnations and prophets have tried to shed light on the human dilemma and urge us toward spiritual awakening. Like different flowers on one tree of life, they spoke the same truths but were bathed in different fragrances.

  • Buddha saw enlightenment as the answer to our suffering — a thousand-petalled lotus emanating from the crown of the head.

  • Mohammed spoke of the Ruh, a cool breeze flowing out of the top of the head and the hands. "At the time of resurrection, your hands will speak," he explained.

  • Krishna, in his playful mirth, depicted the need for yoga — union with the Divine. He spoke of the collective nature of man and the need for each of us to dissolve into the ocean of bliss.

  • Christ also explained that salvation would come only through second birth. Forgiveness and compassion would clear the path toward this awakening, which would be felt as tongues of cool flames crowning the head in a divine halo.

Personal Experience:

I was very lucky to meet Shri Mataji when I was about 18 years old. She was then living in Bombay, the wife of the Chairman of the Shipping Corporation of India. My mother knew her, so we visited her home.

Her mother said, "Here is a special person, and you will feel good if you meet her."

There weren’t many people—just a few in Bombay who gathered for meditation. Shri Mataji herself would sit in front of everyone during meditation.

It took a few years after that to fully realize the power of the vibrations.

The Beginning of a Movement:

Since 1970, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi began teaching a small group of seekers how to meditate.
She stood behind each individual and raised the Kundalini by placing her hands on the various energy centers along the spine.

This was a natural process which awakened their residual power of pure desire.
She awakened this power, called Kundalini, which lay dormant in the sacrum bone at the base of the spine, coiled in three and a half coils.

When awakened, it rose up the spinal cord, connecting and enlightening the energy centers.
As it pierced the fontanel bone area at the top of the head, they were connected with the Divine.

Though initially working with only a handful of people, she searched for a universal method to give this experience to large groups.
She soon developed a technique for mass self-realization, considering the varied combinations of the human personality.

The method was startlingly simple:

  • The seeker would hold the left hand towards Shri Mataji.

  • Verbal affirmations helped the mothering energy to rise.

  • The experience could be verified by feeling the Kundalini in the hands and above the head.

As more people expressed their desire for awakening, she began a mass self-realization movement.

About Kundalini & Human Potential:

"We can understand that human beings are created with mental and emotional sides.
Now, they are guided by these aspects depending on birth and upbringing.
But within us lies a power — I call it Kundalini — that sleeps in the triangular bone."

When this Kundalini awakens:

  • It passes through various aspects of our life.

  • It enlightens and unites them.

  • We become above all limitations and become powerful within.

Since 1970, she has given enlightenment on mass in over 65 countries — from Russia to Australia.

In 1995, at a program held in Bombay, Shri Mataji raised the Kundalinis of over 100,000 people simultaneously.
Even those outside the hall, just holding out their hands, felt the joy and cool breeze.

Testimonial:

"When I came to Shri Mataji, I was a product of my generation—very permissive lifestyle.
My chakras were broken. Shri Mataji was visibly affected while working on me, often vomiting after sessions due to my damaged system.
But when she explained why she had come — what she was offering humanity — I was stunned.
It was like discovering a big secret:
You are your own mother, but you need to be connected to the main power source.
Until then, you are not your true Self."

Scientific Connection:

The spirit resides in the heart, but we are not aware of it.

When the Kundalini:

  • Passes through the centers and

  • Pierces the Sahasrara,

…we experience a cool breeze — something not explained by medical science.

  • Chakras are anatomical locations, linked to autonomic nervous plexuses:

    • The heart chakra corresponds to the cardiac plexus.

    • The Vishuddhi chakra corresponds to the cervical plexus.

“In allopathic medicine, we are not taught about cool air coming from the head. But it happens.”

Sahaja Yoga and Health:

The subtle system — Kundalini, chakras, and energy channels — is described in ancient Yoga Sutras.
Shri Mataji explained:

  • Each chakra controls different body organs.

  • Diseases arise from imbalances in energy centers.

  • Correction comes only through Kundalini awakening.

  • When your divine energy unites with the cosmic energy, true Yoga happens.

Normally, thoughts cannot be stopped.
But when the Kundalini awakens, the person enters a thoughtless state and eventually experiences cool vibrations.

New Definition of Yoga:

Now, Yoga became effortless:

  • No more standing on your head.

  • No expensive mantras.

  • Enlightenment could happen even in London, not just in the Himalayas.

  • No need for psychiatristsself-realization brought inner healing.

Shri Mataji’s Philosophy:

She wasn’t concerned with quantity, but quality of seekers.
She never charged money for realization.
She started Sahaja Yoga with her own resources and always insisted:

You cannot pay for your spiritual ascent.

Thus, all prior ideas about God and spiritual access must be reformed.

Closing Line:

"There’s no need to ring the bells. The bell is soft inside."

Fragrance of Roses: short miraculous experiences by Sahaja Yogis

These stories are from The Breeze of Sahasrara , the book Shri Mataji asked me to compile about Sahaja miracles. These particular experiences relate to the sense of smell. Linda Williams |  FB: SY Friends & Family |  21. August, 2015 Smell Chris Marlow shared an experience that occurred multiple times: "My friend and I had been out for a pizza in London and were walking home. Suddenly, we were struck by an incredible smell of roses—very powerful and unmistakable. We looked around to see where it was coming from, but it wasn’t coming from anywhere obvious. Then we realized we were standing outside Darwin Court in North London. Shri Mataji was staying there at the time. I told my friend it was a well-known phenomenon that Shri Mataji’s presence is often accompanied by the fragrance of roses." Pamela Bromley , one of the first Sahaja Yogis in Brighton, England, recalled: "In the early 1980s, I was on my way to a Sahaja Yoga meeting in Brighton. As I was drivin...

Shri Mataji Is Always Protecting Us

Shri Mataji Is Always Protecting Us One day, a sacred Sahasrara Puja program was being held at Nargol. Two women set out to attend this divine program, but for a long time, they couldn’t find any rickshaw. They stood waiting by the roadside, but no transport was available. After some time, a rickshaw driver appeared. Without hesitation, they sat in the rickshaw and headed towards their destination. On the way, the rickshaw driver noticed the gold necklaces and earrings the women were wearing. Greed began to fill his mind. He thought that if he took these women to a deserted place, he could snatch all their gold. With this thought, he changed his route. The women immediately questioned him, saying he was taking the wrong path. Lying, the rickshaw driver replied that it was a shortcut and they would reach quickly. The women became a little uneasy but couldn’t understand what was happening. Suddenly, he turned the rickshaw back onto the correct route and dropped the women safely at Shr...

Rescued by Divine Grace in the Australian Outback

Rescued by Divine Grace in the Australian Outback While traveling through the remote Australian outback on Christmas Eve, a photojournalist and his atheist colleague became dangerously stuck in an invisible mud ditch disguised as dust , 300 km from the nearest town, with no phone contact and only a day's supply of water. Stranded in extreme heat (48°C) , all conventional efforts to free their 4WD vehicle failed. With no options left, the Sahaja Yogi journalist silently prayed to Shri Hanuman and Shri Mataji , gave a bandhan , and surrendered the situation in meditation. Suddenly, as he revved the engine and released the clutch, the car leapt out of the ditch —appearing to be lifted and moved by an invisible hand , as his shocked colleague described. The incident deeply moved both men, especially the journalist, who tearfully recognized the divine intervention that had saved their lives. ---------------------------------------------original: Reference : Quite a few years ago I w...
